My name is Katie Fowler and I am a PhD student in the Ecology & Evolution group of the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I am studying how anthropogenic pressures (human activities) impact the health and reproduction of animals living in the wild and in human care. My PhD dissertation research is on two species: 1) African lions living in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area of Tanzania, and 2) black-footed ferrets living in US Fish & Wildlife centers being bred for reintroduction into the wild.
